Dr. Jenny Yuen:
Dr. Jenny Yuen is taking a temporary leave of absence (February 2010), relocating to Hong Kong where she was born. She attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she received her undergraduate and Doctor of Optometry degree. She stayed at Cal and finished her training with a residency specializing in binocular vision and specialty contact lens fitting. She is bilingual and speaks fluent Cantonese.
Dr. Yuen works with children with functional vision disorders such as: amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed or wandering eye), binocular disorders (eye teaming), accommodative disorders (eye focusing), oculomotor dysfunction (eye movement and tracking), and visual-perceptual dysfunction. Early vision care is important to detect risks for development of eye and vision problems.
She is also a clinical instructor at the Binocular Vision Clinic at the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry, where she is engaged in clinical teaching and training the next generation of Optometrists.
Her philosophy to patient care is simple. She makes it a point to listen to the patient and treat the whole patient, not just the eye. In her spare time, she likes to sing, travel, play golf, and spend time with her family.
